Plot Summary: “An Evening of Alan Bennett” brings to the stage four stories by Alan Bennett. These stories, and their characters, will have you laughing, sighing, maybe even crying, definitely thinking about life in general and some lives in particular. You will be entertained, amused and moved. In A Lady of Letters Irene embarks on another public morals campaign, and finds herself strangely free at last. Muriel realises that Giles is not the man he makes himself out to be in Soldiering On; and that nothing is, in fact, what it seemed to have been. In A Cream Cracker Under the Settee Doris discovers that Zuleima has definitely NOT dusted. While Graham checks out his mother’s new boyfriend in A Chip in the Sugar.
Venue: The Studio, Ward Street, Upper Hutt.
Heretaunga Players production features Sylvia Lawer as Doris, Ella Kahu as Irene, Ian Gladding as Graham and Judy Sheridan as Muriel.
